Psychotherapy-EMDR
EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is highly effective for dealing with such problems as:
Fears (Phobias) of:
- Specific object or events (bacteria, flying, darkness, confined space, heights, specific animals, etc.)
- Social situations (giving a speech in public, gatherings where some unfamiliar faces are also present)
- Feeling of danger in a specific place (open spaces, public transport, walking in the streets, being left alone outside their home)
Problems caused by severe stress:
- Memories connected to stressful events in the past
- Avoiding situations connected to stressful events in the past
- Blaming oneself or someone else for a traumatic event or its eventuality
- Annoying reoccurring dreams connected to the traumatic event
- Feeling or acting as if the stressful event was happening all over again
- Experiencing physical reactions (e.g. heart rate speed-ups, difficulty breathing or sweating) when reminded of the stressful event
- Avoiding thinking or talking about the past stressful experience
- Having constant negative judgment or expectations for oneself, others and the world.
- Excessively negative expectations or judgment for oneself, others or the world
EMDR was first to Georgian specialists in 2015 by Dutch specialists – Walter Van Lieshout, and Rianneke Van Der Gaag and since then is efficiently used for treating prolonged post-traumatic stress conditions. According to American and European guidelines, EMDR represents the first method chosen while treating PTSD. Because of high efficiency, the above-mentioned method is also used for treating phobias.
EMDR gives the opportunity to get fast (4-6 visits) high-quality treatment. In case of PTSD and phobias, positive effects are long-lasting.
